Impact Assessment


An Impact Assessment project was undertaken for a leading wind power company under Natural, Social, Human and Economic Capitals to assess the impact of the following projects:


  • Roof top rainwater harvesting
  • Tree plantation
  • Pond de-silting
  • Developing VDCs for participatory village development
  • Securing livelihood and maintaining dignity for women through women entrepreneurship
  • Women empowerment through SHG promotion
  • Underground water tank (called as taanka locally) construction for community use as well as for single family use
  • Drinking water structure for animals
  • Well construction for irrigation
  • Solar electrification through solar torch, solar home lighting system and solar street lights
  • Distribution of grain storage drums to the needy
  • Animal healthcare - vaccination, de-ticking, de-worming, etc.
  • Thorn-fencing for agriculture fields

In order to get specific and detailed information from the community located in different villages and hamlets, participatory tools like transect walk, resource mapping, institution mapping, chapati diagram, focused group discussions (FGDs) and in-depth interviews were used.

Views and opinions from other stakeholders – Panchayati Raj Institutions, local government agencies (animal husbandry dept., PHED, district hospital, etc.), employees, partner NGO –were also taken to measure the real outcomes and impact. the resultant impact and outcomes were presented by developing 35 case studies comprising 20 family-wise case studies (reporting interventions benefiting a single family) and 15 village-wise/hamlet-wise case studies (reporting interventions benefiting the community).
